Impact in Business Recruitment are currently working with an established client organisation based in Lagos, who are a well-known participant in the trade finance sector. The client’s principal business involves actively originating, financing and executing oil and gas contracts and investments.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Vice President – Corporate Finance

Job Description

  • The VP, Corporate Finance will be responsible for Deal origination, appraisal and execution support ranging from fund raising, advisory and deal structuring mandates primarily within the African oil and gas markets
  • The successful candidate will be confident in his/her ability to create value and meet targets
  • The ideal candidate will be mostly motivated by a hunter philosophy, with an unlimited potential rewards structure

Job Duties/ Responsibilities/ Accountabilities
Research and Intelligence:

  • Conduct market research and analysis on prospective clients, industries and transactions
  • Conduct pricing analysis, including primary and secondary market comparisons for all prospective deals
  • Develop and regularly update the teams pitch book/brochure
  • Develop a quarterly bulletin as a means of updating the company of external trends and Corporate Finance activities

Deal Origination, Appraisal and Execution support:

  • Seek out prospective clients and deals; conduct first-level due diligence
  • Review company, economic and financial information to determine viability
  • Manage all deal activities with objective to achieve financial close – mandate letters, teasers, term sheets, Deal Memos and presentations
  • Developing and/or interpreting financial models, including conducting relevant analysis and risk assessment on projects or transaction being contemplated.

Financial Advisory and Strategy:

  • Secure and execute advisory mandates from prospective clients within our target markets
  • Manage relationships with clients and/or 3rd parties where necessary, in the client’s interest
  • Negotiating and enforcing commercial terms in prospective deals, and on behalf of clients
  • Develop short to long-term financial plans and strategic models for clients

Key Competencies Required

  • Confident in self-ability to win
  • Strong in financial modelling; reporting and interpretation
  • Sound judgement; confident in presenting recommendations
  • World class professional with passion for Africa
  • A good listener, with strong communication skills (local and international languages are an advantage)
  • Minimum of university Degree in either Accounting, Finance, Economics or any related subject
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in corporate finance, financial modelling, or investment banking

Relevant exposure to any/all:

  • Company valuations; M&A; risk management; oil and gas deal structuring; structured trade finance; Fund raising across Africa; DFIs; Corporate restructuring; Debt Financing etc.
